yes you can play divx files as long as they are in a avi container.
if the files are in a divx container don't worry, the divx container is just a modified avi container so you can just change the extension from .divx to .avi and you can play the file and even import it into the player with no problems.
in the end you'll always die, so why struggle to survive!?
