We have our first look at what Wolverine will look like in his solo movie, the awkwardly titled X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It’s due out in May of 2009 which leaves them plenty of time to change that awful title. What they don’t need to change is how pissed off Wolvy looks in the picture to your right.

The image comes courtesy of USA Today, where Hugh Jackman promises that we’ll get a crankier, surlier version of the character than we’ve seen in any of the X-Men movies. Thank god. By X-Men 3 they’d started turning him into a bit of a pansy, and that’s not the Wolverine we all know and love.

Origins is a prequel, and will follow Wolverine as he discovers mutants, and gets turned into a living weapon by the Weapon X program. That may mean a good portion of the movie in which he has no claws. Hopefully though, they get around to turning his skull into adamantium quick. Wolverine’s not as fun without his metal.
