Despite the fact that the script can be rewritten and theoretically repaired, I’m still not excited about the Justice League movie. I just don’t think it’s going to wind up being very good, with too much emphasis on making it a wiz-bang of a movie instead of making it a good movie. I hope I’m wrong, since the production is moving forward, like it or not.
Right now production for the movie is still based in Australia, giving the local press there a reason to take note of the picture, although that may wind up changing. It’s been there long enough for the Sydney Morning Herald to run a story about the picture, listing Hugh Keays-Byrne among the cast. While the paper doesn’t say who the actor will, play, AICN says it has the inside scoop: the rugged fellow from Mad Max will play Martian Manhunter.
I honestly can’t make a judgment call just based on the actor’s appearance, especially since most images out there aren’t very complimentary of the actor. I’ll need to see something with Keays-Byrne walking and talking before I can say whether this is good or not. I am impressed they aren’t trying to stick some sort of Channing Tatum clone in the movie for what is probably one of the larger parts, especially if Superman and Batman wind up not being featured very prominently. I will say that Manhunter is one of those characters that will look ridiculous if they don’t make an effort to make him cool, so they better be careful with their approach.
