Variety says forgotten actress Neve Campbell will soon be in a movie called Vivaldi, where she plays a Venetian courtesan opposite Joseph Fiennes. He’s sort of like the Billy Baldwin of the Fiennes brothers, and Ralph gets to be Alec.

What the heck happened to Neve Campbell? She got a little buzz in 2003 for The Company, but really only because she used it as her chance to do brief nudity. Ten years ago she was the stuff of every dude’s late-night erotic dreams, now she’s a cinematic footnote who has graduated from looking scared in horror movies to looking scared in corsets, the inevitable dead-end of every Hollywood actress over 25. Neve by the way, is now in her mid-30s and in Hollywood terms unless she suddenly turns into Dame Judy Dench that means she’ll be retiring in a year or two. Better get working on that mustache Neve.

Maybe she should give it up and become this generation’s Shannon Tweed. I doubt she’ll be naked in this new movie, but a fella can dream. Of course getting naked didn’t exactly work wonders for Denise Richards. They’ve both taken different paths to get there, but both now seem to be on the same train to obscurity.

If she’s clothed in Vivaldi, I guess we’ll all have to get by on enjoying her “acting”. I have personally found her very convincing at being sexy. She’s also pretty good at girl on girl kissing. That’s acting, isn’t it? Or does that just come naturally? That could actually explain a great many things.
