Violence made music...that's what thrash metal is all about. The most piss off subgenre of metal had its golden age back in the 80´s, but it is still kicking and going strong again. Another band member of the thrash metal revival movement goes by the name Warbringer. They're from California, US and an explosion of fury is what they bring with their debut LP "War Without End".

Let's get out of it from the beginning: this is not the more original music you'll find...but who gives a fuck? This is mighty metal, played with conviction and a high degree of talent. With Warbringer a clear sound-alike comes to mind: Reign In Blood era Slayer. But read carefully, I said sound-alike, not copycats. The similarities are clear (especially in the vocal department, excellent performance of John Kevill): fast guitar playing, catchy riffs, speed of light soloing and aggressive vocals.

So, what does Warbringer add to the recipe? First, the drumming is of high quality with clear use of double bass (not as common as one may think among thrash metal bands); second: a clean production that allows the listener to hear all the instruments (a must in modern metal) and third: lots of great alternating riffs and dynamic song structures.

This album is set in one speed only: fast. It is a very energizing experience and a trip to the past. I don't remember how long has been since I heard a band start an album with a killer guitar solo (pay attention to the beginning of the song "Total War"). "War Without End" put a smile in my face; I hope it will do the same for you...

Song: "Systematic Genocide"

The orders given

The time has come to kill

Dispatched in silence

Commanded by psychotic will

Time to die Systematic genocide

time to end your life

Say goodbye Systematic genocide

none will survive

Incinerated cities falling

A burning waste

Charred lands, devoid of life

Radiation waves

Death squads, hunting the streets

Leave none alive

You know the end is comming soon

Nowhere to hide

Time to die Systematic genocide

time to end your life

Say goodbye Systematic genocide

none will survive

Time to die - Genocide

Time to die - Genocide

Epidemic, millions die with no hope of a cure

The infected start to rot,

torment they can´t endure

As one their dying souls cry out

to gods that do not hear

Murderous depravity, death is drawing near

Cities slowly pounded into dust

Populations run in terror as they die,

spill their blood

Merciless destruction, cause of death

Spirits fall to hell, eternally condemned

Terrorize with deadly force

Spare no lives, there is no remorse
