The type of friends you prefer reveals a lot about your personality, says psychologist Dr. Elayne Kahn, co-author of “1001 Ways You Reveal Your Personality.”

If you have:

• Just one close friend — You need someone to confide in and trust. You don’t trust people very easily, but once you do you’re very loyal.
• Friends of your own sex only — You enjoy tradition and believe boys should be boys and girls should be girls. You’re more comfortable when people are in more traditional roles.
• Friends of the opposite sex only — You enjoy being the center of attention, but don’t like competing for it.
• Friends you just party with — You love to socialize, but don’t like people getting too close. You’re very independent and want to stay that way.
• Friends from the workplace — You love achieving, working hard, making money and always moving ahead. All the things in your life - including friendships - are geared toward making your career as successful as possible.
• Different friends for different occasions — If, for example, you go dancing with one group of friends and play touch football with another, you’re well-organized, but don’t like to become too involved with people. You’re a busy, active person.

Interesting post...guess it depends on the individuals defenition of friend..Not counting family I have one...he's gay sooo I don't know what that says about me....my other true friend is and always be Joe....I've people I'm close to at work and in my life but it takes a long time to get to call them true blue friends if you know what I mean.

I have no problems opening up...more often than not end up getting hurt...but most people are very careful about how much they give of themselves I guess.

My category isn't there. I used to trust too easy, now in the outside world I'm very dubious of people & their reasons. I have a friend that we can not talk for a year then we chat like we saw each other yesterday. I have friends here in bitcomet that I have opened up to alot earlier than I ever thought I would.

i kinda guess i have lots of friends so i think am lucky...i trust people until am hurt by them but always forgive...i have friends of which i,ve know for well over twenty years or more ...of which are close..i,ve also friends who stand by me in times of trouble...i meet a lot of people in my life and i,ve seen friends come and go but a frined off mine is a friend for life whether i see them each day or see them years later they shall always be my friends...if your out there and i,ve not spoken to you in a while and your reading this take care till i do....

i,ve also friends i,ve not met but talken with...who i class has friends...like yourself..

i guess this kind of sum,s up my friendship for people out there...and close by.

but my closest of friends is my wife......
