Some days ago, my friend Sagitata gave me a recommendation of an instrumental band from US. After downloading and listening the album lots of times, i´m really grateful that he told me about 3 Headed Monster, this band simply rocks!!

Instrumental metal is the field of action in their debut album, but differences with other bands must be established. 3 Headed Monster does not play neither the technical complex kind of music of Canvas Solaris and Spastic Ink nor the lay back progressive kind of Gordian Knot and 7 for 4. Instead, 3 Headed Monster stands in the comfortable middle, mixing 3 broad subgenres of metal in one cohesive and enjoyable LP: progressive, thrash and power metal. To my ears, the balance between the three subgenres in display moves towards thrash metal, as you can listen to in the fast impressive soloing and rhythm guitars. One can feel the thrash metal influence just by taking notice of the energy projected by the album. In second place, the progressive elements have considerable weight in the sounds as well, especially manifested in the spoken introductions, arpeggios, interludes and song structures. As for the power metal flourishes, they are evident in the rhythm guitar, reminding me of the riffs use by mighty bands such as Iced Earth (check out the riffs in "Ides Of March" and you´ll get my point of view).

The strongpoint of this album is variation, it allows the music to flow in ups and downs that take the listener´s attention during all the 40 minutes play time. Not for a moment one feels any degree of boredom, on the contrary, the journey seems too short and one ends up asking for more; the only option: to click on the play button and get ready for another spin. "3 Headed Monster" is as fun as a rollercoaster and it was a good surprise for me. I´m very pleased to find people as Sagitata in the Bitcomet community with great sense of what good music is...get ready for the ride!...
