I don't know why, but the theater where I saw Iron Man on Friday did not show the new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull beforehand. Having seen the bootleg version earlier this week I talked it up to my friends, so not only was I disappointed, I also looked like a jerk.
Thankfully, a high quality, legal version of the trailer has finally been put online, so Indy fans can resume getting ridiculously excited about what looks like a high-quality addition to the series that has already given us so much joy. We get so much new stuff in this trailer-- some back story on the crystal skull, narrated in Indy's classic dry monotone, new fight scenes, new quips, and whole lot of the Russian villain played by Cate Blanchett. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we've heard her speak before, and man is it a pleasure. We get a better sense of the relationship between Indy and the character played by Shia LaBeouf-- basically, the kid annoys the crap out of him, as well he should. Oh, and did I mention the skull is guarded by the living dead? That's right: zombies!
Seriously, just head
here and watch the trailer right now. Even if you're not a huge Indy fan, it should get you excited to see the movie. And if you already saw the bootleg version, it's amazing how much more there is to see in the high-quality edition. While I'm still sad I missed seeing this on the big screen, I'm pretty thrilled to be able to rewind this trailer over and over again to my heart's content.
