BitComet - Download Files with BitComet

Find a Torrent File and Download

Task Propreties

BitComet will open automatically once finishing downloading torrent. Then a dialogue as following picture will popup with: Normal, Advanced and Task Link. You can change tab with clicking or it will default Normal.

Normal

Save Location: You can change save location of the download files in the computer through clicking ?Browse? or putting URL in the ADD.

Task: Default is to download and start immediately. It means downloading this task immediately. If you choose start manually, you need to start downloading task manually in future.

File Name: You can download files optionally by making the file name checked.

Suggestion: Generally speaking, you don?t need to change save location and download files with other options. Keep default with click ?OK?, then you can download. So you can close the current page and experience the downloading of BitComet. If you are interesting in reading about this, you can go on and see advanced application.

Advanced

Tracker List: There are Tracker addresses in Tracker List. You don?t need to pay attention to these addresses.

Task Setting: Enable use public DHT network. This can improve your download speed through acquiring data from other users in DHT network.

Enable peers exchange. This help you receive more data from more users and improve your download speed.

?Minimum upload rate to keep? and ?Maximum allowed upload rate? of ?Enable task specific setting? is for users to make seeds. As seeds, users can set Minimum and Maximum of Upload data. This can assure the user?s download speed and make some bandwidth to download files.

Suggestion: You can get best download setting without modifying data of advanced setting.

once I pick a download it is not showing up in the task menu enable me to start the download, can anyone help?

  • You have to open the file not save it. When the files show up then you press the downloas button.

  • i usually type in google whatever im looking for followed by the words torrent then i view googles search results and click on the link then click on download torrent other good paces to look are: seedpeer, mininova isohunt, torent pox,and the pirate bay.

  • Hit the Hash check button each and everytime you finish a file also there is ways to make it faster google tweak bitcomet. It should be right there.

why wont the download start and why does the time say 99:99:99 for download

  • The 99:99:99 means the download will take a long time (over 99 hours). Once the download speeds up or is closer to finishing, this will change. Rember...patience is key when stuff is free

  • Does your download in the section to the right of the 99:99:99 say that you have any peers/seeds? Like... 4/527 or 1/75 or does look like this? 0/0?

  • The reason for it is because the file is being uploaded by someone else. Try canceling Bitcomet stop all tasks just reset the cpu period. the cpu is slowing down.

    then start Bitcomet up and cpu, and select the tasks that are at 99. They will get powered threw. Do this from thing time to time. To help get your rate up.

  • This might be related to the above issues -

    So I find a torrent and then choose to download it. It's cruising along and everything seems fine, then when I get to say, 90% under "Progress" the download suddenly displays 99:99:99 under "Time Left", and the download/upload speed goes to 0kb/s. Ocassionally, a download speed begins to show up, but the "Progress" doesn't seem to indicate that anything is happening. I stop the downloads, close BitComet, then re-open BitComet and begin the downloads again but I still get 0 download/upload speed and 99:99:99 for time.

    I have to admit that this is pretty frustrating - how do I get around this?

maybe the download is near 0kB ? so it is 99:99:99

i've just download limewire, but i want to download music albums from the same site i always have that always worked with bitcomet now it won't download using bitcomet it uses lime wire and need to find out how to set bitcomet as the default does any body no how?

  • try this in bitcomet 0.98 click on options icon at the top once you are in options on the left you will see task then under that bt task highlight that then on the right you will see a box that says Associate Bitcomet as default torrent or bittorrent client if their is not a check mark in that box place one there then click ok

how come under the peers my IP status is always [DHEv2]dead and does this affect my downloads??? it seems like everything is going fine and then the download rate drops to 0, not every time maybe half the time. some downlds work perfectly any ideas???

I have downloaded files that say .RAR file. How can I vie them and which player do I need.

  • .rar files are basically a .zip file....u have to get a program such as WinRAR or something to extract the files from the .rar folder! u can get a torrent to get the program!!! lol

i started downloading a 3 mb file 6 days ago but it hasn't finished downloading. it shows 0kb downloaded
