Harrison Ford Offered A Star Wars Spin-Off

Harrison Ford Offered A Star Wars Spin-Off Well here’s a fun what if. It looks like the prequels weren’t necessarily all George Lucas had in mind for Star Wars. Britain’s Daily Star newspaper claims that right around the time he started developing Indiana Jones 4 Lucas wanted to make a Star Wars spin off movie about an older Han Solo. But to do it, he needed Harrison Ford, and Ford wanted no part of it.

They say, “George wanted Harrison to play Indy but cleverly sounded him out about playing Hans Solo instead. Harrison was horrified. After that he was delighted to be playing Indy again. He told George he just couldn't face being stuck in a spaceship with Chewbacca again.”

Harrison Ford has been pretty open over the last few years about his dislike for Star Wars. It’s not that he didn’t like the movies, he just hated the experience of making them. Though Lucas reportedly offered him $20 million to make it, Ford wanted no part of it. Instead he took $20 million to make Indiana Jones 4.

Though a Han Solo movie is apparently out of the question, you have to wonder if this means that somewhere down the road we might see more Star Wars movies. If this happened around the time Lucas was starting work on Indy 4, then the prequel series was already in full swing by then. We’re talking pretty recent here. Did this idea end up becoming the “Star Wars” TV series we’ve been hearing about for the past year, or is George still planning more movies? I'm rooting for a Chewbacca solo project. Come on, give a Wookiee a chance!
