Transformers Land Early

Transformers Land Early Taking a page from what Warner Brothers did with Harry Potter a few days ago when they moved it from the 13th to the 11th, Coming Soon says Paramount has decided to open Transformers a day earlier. Instead of opening the film Wednesday, July 4th they’ll release it on Tuesday July 3rd.

Holiday or not, isn’t Tuesday pretty much the worst day to go to a movie? There’s just something wrong about going to a theater on Tuesdays. I’ve often thought they should just close their doors on that one day of the week. Shut things down, use it to clean gum off the seats.

The move also makes it seem like Paramount is scared of Harry Potter. Are they trying to get an extra day of earning in before the now two days closer Potter hits? Or, are they just trying to cut into Live Free or Die Hard, which opens on June 27th? There’s been a lot of jostling this summer. So far, all the big movies that were supposed to make big money have. I doubt shifting release dates a day or two will really make much difference in the take of one of these uber-blockbusters.
