Jack Black Works For Judd Apatow

Jack Black Works For Judd Apatow The Judd Apatow family has just expanded to include Jack Black. Variety says Jack has signed up to star in the Apatow produced comedy Year One. Also in the movie is ‘Arrested Development’s’ Michael Cera, who stars in Superbad, another upcoming Apatow produced movie.

What’s really exciting about the project though, is that it’s directed by Harold Ramis. If you saw Knocked Up this weekend like you were supposed to, then you saw Ramis in a supporting role as Seth Rogen’s father. Apparently he digs working with Judd. It’ll be interesting to see what the two can do by combining forces to work on the same project.

After a string of genius comedies in the 80s and early 90s, including movies like Caddyshack and Groundhog Day, Harold Ramis hasn’t made much of an impact. His last movie, The Ice Harvest, had a great cast but was still just utterly awful. He hasn’t really made anything worth watching since Analyze This back in 1999 and even that in retrospect, well lets face it, it wasn’t that great. It was sort of the beginning of the end for De Niro, it’s the place in his career where he stopped making good movies and started making fun of himself.

This time though, Ramis is working with the hottest group of comedic talents in Hollywood right now. With all due respect to John Cusack, he hasn’t been funny since High Fidelity. Give me Jack Black and Michael Cera… in whatever it is that Year One is about. No one seems to have a clue.
