HOW TO INCREASE SPEED! WORKS!

Oct 07, 2008, 04:52 AM [Reply]

Lots of people are having trouble uploading & downloading and bitcomet don't seem to care. They ignore all requests for help and just tell people they are being throttled by their isp. This is a long post but PLEASE read! It's worth it!

I got so fed up I removed bitcomet and started using Utorrent, mostly because I couldn't upload. Now my upload speed is back to normal, so it was always a problem with bittorrent, not my isp. The download speed is quite slow but that just means you can have finished uploading to 2.0 by the time you've finished downloading.

A long time torrent experet said I should try downloading with bitcomet and uploading with Utorrent. I tried this, after using only Utorrent for about a week. Suddenly my download speeds with bitcomet were good again (coincidence?)

I reccommend using Utorrent ONLY for a week or so, then uploading with Utorrent and downloading with bitcomet (only using one program at a time of course!) I download with bitcomet at night (when I get the best speeds) and upload during the day. because Utorrent uses much less system resources, I have been able to use my computer for work all day and upload (at unlimited speeds) on the same machine with no problems.

Everybody who is having problems please try this! If we all leave bitcomet, they might actually fix it! If you go to a page of new torrents, like Torrentz or Mininova, you will see new torrents, even ones by popular uploaders like axxo have almost no seeds. I believe this is because people are having the same problems uploading with bitcomet. Bitcomet seem to be happy for the torrent community to die rather than fix this problem. Please keep the torrent community alive by using Utorrent!

After installing Utorrent, go to this page for a easy-to-follow guide on how to migrate torrents

Actually I'm using 1.04 and tried using several older versions as well, all with the same

problem, which is why I believed it was my isp.

I tried Utorrent as a last resort before

switching internet providers and hey presto!

it was bitcomet all along.

I'm happy if you are not having this problem

but lots of other people are, and this post

is for them.

I don't see your problem. Sometimes my download is 2300KB/s sometimes it's less but it depends on the seeders. My upload is constantly 230KB/s which is where I set the limit to. (Cause 120 points max per day, 1 point for 10MB ... doesn't make it interesting to upload faster)

Actually, I think your story is a bunch of bull$#!7. You have not done good testing of your theory you sololy base your conclusion on only your experiences... Not really a scientific method of testing I would say. No Vote.

Life is what you make it.

Not sure why my messages are not apprearing. I am signed in. I want to reply to the first poster post about utorrent and Bit comet and increasing speed.

after spending 5 days on my PC downloading shows and playing around I think I found something and I am by far a expert in any of this so it may be nothing but I have tested this 24-7 for 5 days and it always works.

Ok I Pay for 1000 down 500 uo but you really need to take off one zero to be in Kbs for it is more like 100kbs and 50 up I had my settings up and down on unlimited first big mistake. I found out by limiting my upload to around 20 and down unlimited I get way better speeds. But here is the kicker call me nuts but when I see for example my down speed going from 80 to 35 but the same amount of seeders still on I kick down my upload a few kbs and like clockwork the down speed goes rign back up! I am not a geek but there seems to be somekind of dection that when you start giving just a bit more upload your down goes way back up and then in 10 mins or so it will balance and then I just change my upload a bit again and back up we go. Ids there any sense to this because if it is true and this has worked 100% of the time for me what about having program that will just play with your upload every 5 mins. You only need to change in a range of a few kbs up and then down. Am I crazy maybe but I tell you this works for me.

Sorry I know long post

  • I really think it would be a great idea for a real torrent expert that knows whatis really going on to write up some protocals on how to increase our speeds given different situations. Listen please there is a lot more going on than you think with file sharing torrents of shows, new movies etc.

The front of all this is great it is free and this is how it works..sorry nothing is free. At first it would appear that this is a free network of cool dudes that just make a little money off the ads that run to keep these services running..I would like to believe that hey it is a free country right..I will leave this one thought with you think about (Layers) spelling is correct layers not lawyers. Ok I know too much 24 time for 4:20...

i thought the download speed depends on your internet provider's speed. if you wanna know your internet speed try going to speedtest.net... i'm only using a 768 and my download is in 80-90 KB/s, but when i used a faster internet connection with 1000 or 2000 my download went to 250-500 KB/s. what i want to know is about FAST AND DIRECT which requires you to register and pay for a certain fee. Is this true and does it really makes your downlaod faster. can someone answer this please...

  • From my experience most of the so called rapid share, direct download sites are scams.

They offer you a 3 day trial for only $4.97 now this is what happens all they really are is a torrent search engine site that they have made up to look very real with high speeds etc. It is all a scam do not, I repeat do not use them because here is the real kicker, all of this is designed for one purpose and one only to obtain your credit card info which you will need to give for the trial offer. Once they have that info they will use it to the fullest they can for as long as they can. If you wait 3 days nothing happens and you call your credit card company you may see your card has been used to the limit. Now by law your credit card company in the end run will not hold you responsible for this but this is after you call for a charge back from you company etc etc meanwhile the thieves have all they could get from your card. Do not use them. Having said this Usenet maybe a real direct download service but I have no idea how they work and what they provide.

I used a free trial with them that did not need a credit card was free for 15 Gigs. I downloaded what I thought was some shows , it was indeed very fast but nothing at all showed up on my hard drive.

The ISP thing ...there's something to that. When I had cable...my downloads were AWESUM...lol. When I moved to the jungle and started going w/high speed satellite..they told me how much I could upload and download a day...if I went over..they cut me off for 24hours. I think certain ISP's...are limited, and..if they see you using a lot of dl and upL...they're on to yea as far as..pirating..just sayin. So...bottom line.. I'm f*cked until I get back into the city and out of the fargin JUNGLE..figuratively speaking..of course..lol
