HOLLYWOOD - An audiotape of O.J. Simpson's alleged armed stand-off in a Las Vegas hotel room has been withheld from police.

The tape, obtained by Web site TMZ.com, was recorded by Thomas Riccio, co-owner of the auction house Universal Rarities.

According to TMZ.com, Riccio's lawyer has been negotiating immunity with the Las Vegas District Attorney to ensure his client will not be prosecuted for his part in the alleged robbery or for making an illegal recording.

Riccio has vowed to hand over the tape as soon as he receives written confirmation of the immunity deal.

Simpson was arrested on Sunday, following an armed raid at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino.

Reports suggest he and five associates purported to be part of a group interested in buying memorabilia items from collector Alfred Beardsley before storming the collector's hotel suite and forcing him to hand over items at gunpoint.
