The fog is kinda thick, a perfect night too be awake and look out through the window..
Wich I actually do from time to time..
Main occupation right now though, Soul Calibur IV.
It keeps me busy from early morning 'til late night, and I'm not complaining either....much
Not the best gamers experience perhaps, but a nice and nimble add too the 360 collection indeed.
Though very different from SC III, in many ways, it certainly keeps me busy enough. I have the illness; gotta complete it all.
For those not familiar with the SC III edition, it had the awesome strategy-game mode, wich SC IV lacks.
SC IV only has the Tower of Lost Cruds.
Amazingly difficult, sometimes too difficult, but kinda anti-variationish, in a way too obvious way.
Soul Calibur had my heart already in the first game of the series, and I have many memories playing it with former friends on the PS.
Then I forgot about the game for years and years, when suddenly, the SC II appeared in stores, price marked down and all, making a drastic comeback into my life.
The SC III had me at hello with the strategy based killing-all-resistance-mode and numerous equipment too find in all over the game, aswell as the all new Character Creation system.
So, you may ask, what did you fall for in SC IV?
Well, so far, the gameplay itself really.. The fun of sloughter, aswell as improvement in your skills.
The equipment can be found just by doing achievments, or 'honors' as they are called. Huge letdown! Where's the sport in winning stuff, when I unlock everything by guarding 1000 attacks, landing 10 000 hits and so on?
Not just that, there are 50 'honors' in total, but the final equipment is yours on the 30th! You simply enter the menu, and pick the ones you find easy! ><
This game has been remodelled too fit the average player who's too lazy too actually fight for it.
Sure, you could choose too ascend 60 floors in the Tower of Lost Souls, the new mission mode, or why not descend 40 floors as the new survival mode?
Well, easy answer really..
When you've been enough at the tower, you will start gaining achievments hella fast, and when you get that extremely rare treasurechest on floor 53, you already have what's in it, and get a crappy 5000 gold bonus instead!
Crappy? 5000 gold? Eh?!
Yes, one piece of equipment varies from 300 gold too atleast 25 000 gold, 5000? Nothing!
The positives though, do outweigh the negatives.
The positives being the game itself mainly, the improved graphics and character controls.
And the heck of spending nights on end beating the crap out of friends, online or local.
Soul Calibur is and remains mainly a beat 'em up friends game, and does so with standing ovations.
In final words, I must say..
The game lives on, the CC mode HAS evolved to a new stage, especially with the new 10-shades-of-one-color-brightness-system. Huge plus, really <3
Though it's far too easy to get new stuff, and way too hard too hard to complete in an average fightingskill.....I'm still inlove
If you have the money, if you have the interest, get it.
Just don't expect something as great as SC III
